My first official internet Troll…

words

Someone felt the need to leave empty criticism on one of my posts. His words: “To be honest, this is bad writing.” And left it at that. I’ve never once professed to be a great writer, but I am of the school of if you have nothing nice to say than say nothing at all. Or at least in this case, tell me why you think it’s bad ?

so this is my creative retort written in a rondeau. Thank You KT Workman for the inspiration.

(Note: A rondeau poem has 15 lines containing 3 stanzasβ€”a quintet, a quatrain, and a sestet. Lines 9 and 15 are short: a refrain consisting of a phrase taken from the 1st line.

Rhyme scheme: a-a-b-b-a, a-a-b-R, a-a-b-b-a-R.)

To be honest with you, your writing sucks !

What makes you think I give two flying fucks !
Well, I’m so sorry, it had to be said.
Can’t you offer better feedback instead ?
You can’t write for shit, what’s there to discuss ?

Did I write too much, what would you deduct ?
ALL OF IT DUDE, IT IS WRITTEN FOR SCHMUCKS!!
Well then please zip it, it’s best left unsaid
TO BE HONEST…

NEVER BE ROLLING IN THE MEGA BUCKS
LAUGH IN YOUR FACE ABOUT HOW MUCH YOU SUCK!
Thanks for the worthless thoughts up in my head said to my face there may have been bloodshed empty critiques, never a place to tread. to be honest…

  1. I love it!! Take that, troll, poetic comeback! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I’m glad my words inspired your own.
On a side note, I forgot to add to my description that a rondeau’s lines, except for the short refrains, are of the same metric length, typically 8-10 syllables. I added that in on my blog. But I see you got it right despite my unintentional omission.😊

    1. It’s harder to ignore when suffering from anxiety as I do. So the initial you suck without more hit far worse than all the details he went into afterwards. I can accept constructive criticism, I can’t accept being insulted.

      1. Thanks, stress at work, high anxiety, my wife dealing with never ending back pain, weight gain brought on by poor food choices and a major lack of exercise all conditional to my downfall. Thankfully I have therapy this Sunday.

  2. Well done on the response! Two things come to mind – one, of course don’t listen to a troll. He/she is clearly just trying to be pain. And two, in some ways, it shows your work is getting out there and noticed.

It’s annoying, but hey you got a good poem out of it right? That’s a nice silver lining
