My wife is officially the breadwinner. The Governor of Pennsylvania has declared stricter lock down measures, two days ago it was non essential business’s now it’s non life sustaining. My wife is a caregiver, I do quality assurance.
I work for a company that films & scans old books, newspapers and the like for the Library of Congress, Libraries, Museums & Universities. For a time one of our clients was The National Library of Medicine but archival isn’t the same as life sustaining.
For the 1st time in the company’s history they instilled a no questions asked paid sick leave till April 15th, so no matter I will still be paid till then. On Tuesday we had a company meeting to try social distancing, each department was broken into two groups to work every other day or as such: Group A Wed/Fri, Group B Tue/Thur then next week switch it up B M/W/F, A T/Th.
That has now all changed. A further challenge is the President & Owner of the company are both in Provo, Utah. There is no immediate answers as to what we are to do. For the last 21 years I wanted to leave, looks like the pandemic might be the push I needed.
I don’t know what the future brings.
And I am still calm, surprisingly, but the humorous sentiment I put on my ice cream cake for my 50th couldn’t be any more true. LOL
