Something Old Sunday #12 (Grits done a family good)…

Thought I’d like to highlight some written work. In 2006 George Bush was President and was great fodder for a political satire. My Friend Diana Morse (Who I met through a writers group) and I wrote a short 5 minute piece of Theater called Grits done a family good. We both wrote, staged, directed and starred in this piece at a community theater open mic night at Touchstone Theatre. We got a standing ovation. I must point out that I was at my heaviest weight between 2002 (circa the death of my Mom) & 2010. This was in the half way mark in 2006, one year after filing Chapter 11 and living on the cheap with My brother and his family. Not too thrilled with how I look in the photo. Prior to our skit I did a goofy little sketch with the 12 year old boy my Brother was Fostering called The Fart of Fighting. It was all visual-auditory at my expense. Anthony & I walked out on stage, I turned to the audience, took off my shirt, bowed and told the audience I had planned to do the ancient Chinese fart of fighting style, imitated Bruce Lee turned my butt to the kid and the sound tech made a farting noise…i then ran off stage grabbing my butt screaming “Not a wet One!”.

This is the 4 page slightly edited script we used and a photo of the both of us.
